Why volumetric weight exists
Aircraft and vessels are limited by space, not just weight. A box of pillows may weigh two kilograms but occupies the same room as something ten times heavier. That is why carriers calculate volumetric weight, an estimate of mass based on the space consumed.
You are always charged on the greater of the two. The most effective way to cut shipping cost is to shrink the packaging: drop oversized retail boxes, remove unnecessary filler, and consolidate several items into one tight parcel.
We offer free repacking on shipments that pass through our warehouse, if the volumetric weight can be trimmed, we will trim it.
